Brain scans showed that less than half an ounce of beer caused the release of dopamine in subjects’ brains and upped their desire to drink. So if you want to cut back, it may be wise to go cold turkey on this one.

A good marriage leads to good health, reports a landmark 20-year study at Brigham Young University. In the study, 1,600-plus married subjects were asked to rate the happiness of their marriage as well as the state of their health on a scale of 1 to 4. The upshot: There’s a direct relationship between matrimonial happiness and physical well-being. One way to keep your ducks in a row, spousally speaking: “Research shows that to maintain a happy relationship, there should be at least five pos- itive interactions for every negative one,” says BYU’s Rick Miller, Ph.D.
