In the three months since WrestleMania, the big question on everyone’s mind was who would take on Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship. At Extreme Rules, the monstrous Samoa Joe was finally declared the No.1 contender for the title. The much-hyped clash between Joe and Lesnar finally happened at Great Balls of Fire this week, along with a number of other memorable matches (including another climactic battle between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns). We’ve rounded up seven highlights worth checking out.

The event started with WWE 2K18 cover star Seth Rollins taking on The Eater of Worlds himself, Bray Wyatt. Despite Wyatt’s claims of godhood, he had to resort to using a cheap eye-poke to get the win over Rollins. That doesn’t sound very godly to us.

Enzo Amore and Big Cass have made a name for themselves as a tag team to be reckoned with, but that all changed weeks ago, with Cass betraying a heartbroken Amore by explaining he thought Amore was holding him back. After a heartfelt speech by Amore, Cass came into the ring and throughly demolished his former partner. While they may no longer be a team, this probably isn’t the last we’ll see of Enzo and Cass.

A 30-Minute Ironman Match is as grueling as it sounds, but The Hardy Boyz and current Raw Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Sheamus were up to the challenge. The match went all the way down to the wire, with Jeff Hardy unable to tie the score before the buzzer sounded and leaving Cesaro and Sheamus as the victors with four pins to the Hardys’ three. Matt Hardy also suffered a major cut above his eye near the end of the match, which required stitches by WWE’s medical team.

Alexa Bliss is the Raw Women’s Champion and no one is happy about it—except, of course, Alexa Bliss. Sasha Banks stepped up to take Bliss’ throne, but Bliss used every dirty trick in the book, including even intentionally dislocating her elbow to make it look like Sasha injured her before following through with a sucker punch. While Banks won the match, Bliss was able to keep her title since it was a victory from countout.

If you’ve been following the feud between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns, you would know there is one constant: There is always an ambulance involved. So, naturally, they faced off at Great Balls of Fire in an ambulance match. Strowman managed to emerge victorious by tricking Reigns’ into launching his trademark Spear right into the ambulance.

However, the real shocker happened after the match ended. An infuriated Reigns threw Strowman into the ambulance, got in the driver’s seat, and then backed the ambulance into a truck. WWE personnel were able to recover a stable-but-bloodied Strowman from the wreckage, and the fallout from the encounter will likely be the main topic of Raw this week.

After weeks of buildup and confrontations, Samoa Joe finally went toe-to-toe with The Beast. While Joe managed to lock Lesnar in his patented Coquina Clutch multiple times, Lesnar ultimately proved to be the victor by delivering an F-5 followed by a pin.
